Mechatronics Education Community October 2017 Update
/Hello Mechatronics Education Community,
With the end of the month, here is our look-back at what has happened in our community:
Another great webinar from our new series! Our guest presenter, Dr. Melek from the University of Waterloo shared the experiences from running an Engineering Clinic to support their undergraduate mechatronics program. He also highlighted some of the research projects focused on unmanned and intelligent systems and human-machine interfacing. Thanks again to Dr. Melek for his time and insights.
If you missed the live event, the recording and the pdf version of the presentation are now available in the Forum's Repository (Repository --> All Content --> WEBINARS: Mechatronics Education Innovation). You can also watch the recording on the Mechatronics Education Community's website, or on our YouTube channel.
Our next webinar with Dr. Nigel Kent from the Dublin Institute of Technology is scheduled for Friday, December 8, 10.00 am EST. We will let you know as soon as the registration is open.
As a part of the webinar, Dr. Kent would like to look at what the term 'mechatronics' means to students. He is looking for a feedback from the community, please take a moment and add your thoughts and insights to the discussion on the online Forum.
And while there, check other new discussions - what are, in your opinion, the essential components of projects that could be included in the freshman curriculum? Do you have any insights into success rates of implementing such projects? Do you have any examples of projects suitable for freshmen? Have a different question for your colleagues? Start a new discussion!
New in the Repository
We continue adding new materials to the community's library of shared resources. This month, they include:
- Descriptions of undergraduate mechatronics programs at the Stellenbosch University, South Africa; University of Birmingham, UK; University of South Australia; Western University, Canada; and University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Canada
- Research papers from the 2107 International Conference on Research and Education in Mechatronics (REM), International Journal on Integrating Technology in Education, and other recent conferences and publications
(you need to login to your Forum account to access the Repository)
Looking forward to your comments, suggestions, and ideas!
Sincerely,
Zuzana Fabusova
